Shola Aruna – chief techcnology officer

-what role will you say the financial sector plays in the life of small business in Nigeria?

Truthfully, I’m not sure if they do at all because as it is, the ICT sector is more of a survival of the fittest thing as there is serious competition within the sector. Except you can guarantee the banks that they would make a 100% profit from your idea or you know someone on the inside, then you can’t be guaranteed of getting a kobo from those banks.

-while trying to get started, where there any major set-backs and how did you surmount them?

There was none at the time.

-how do you handle legal matters?

We have lawyer friends on standby that assist with whatever requires legal advice.

Marketing strategy

-what’s your overall marketing strategy, how do you plan on reaching prospective customers?

We currently have different solutions for different sectors, like the Audio Visual for Churches, IP services for Real Estate, Kiddies Intellectual Development Strategy (K.I.D.S) for Schools etc. Our services and solutions therefore cut across all sectors.
Our main strategy is to always identify our clients’ specific requirements and needs before proffering solution. The aim of this is to proffer the best suitable ICT solution in the defined timeline as required by our clients.
One of our key strengths and guiding principles to always deliver the best suitable and effective services to our customers by following standard methodologies and project guidelines to ensure accurate delivery of requirements.

There is a binding agreement signed, sort of a partnership agreement and it is stated therein that any partner whose performance or behaviour ( regardless of who it is) is found to be unsatisfactory, can be given a weeks notice by the company to withdraw as a partner. This keeps everyone in check.

POP OFF CENTRAL.COM – PROFILE

THE PERSON, THE BUSINESS.

- CAN YOU PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?

AYOMIDE TAYO, POP OFF CENTRAL BLOG BRAIN.

AYOMIDE TAYO, POP OFF CENTRAL BLOG BRAIN.

Well, my name is Ayomide Tayo. I studied Mass Communication at the University of Lagos. I’m a Manchester United football club fan, love music and movies. I am a blogger at ‘Pop Off Central’ and also a freelance writer. You can read some of my articles and reviews on www.thenetng.com and www.hiphopworldmagazine.com

-TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS.

I am in the blogging business. ‘Pop Off Central’ is the name of my blog- it is a blog on Nigerian pop culture. It’s not strictly about music content but anything that grabs the attention of the young Nigerian within the entertainment circle.

-HOW DID YOU SETTLE FOR THAT INDUSTRY, WHAT WAS THE MOTIVATION TO ENTER THAT MARKET?

Settling into the blogging industry was just natural evolution. Before starting my blog I worked with Hip Hop World Magazine. I am obviously a music buff and back in 2009 the music internet game started popping up so I thought about setting up a blog strictly for Nigerian music. Back then ‘Pop Off Central’ was just about music but we’ve expanded our content to accommodate pop culture. The Nigerian Hip Hop Music and Not Just OK sites had just popped up, so I decided to be a part of the movement.

The motivation was far from monetary. There were a lot of upcoming acts back then who needed to enter the industry but get radio and TV play back then was hard. It is still hard. I decided to be a blogger so as to give these acts some sort of back room door access to the industry. In 2010 we released a mix-tape which featured acts like Ice Prince, Beazy, DIPP and others. I’m sure everyone knows Ice Prince. And this has been an underlying passion at Pop Off Central to shine our light on the undiscovered, not just artists but actors, bloggers, video vixens etc.

-CAN YOU SHARE WITH US THE OBSTACLES YOU ENCOUNTER IN THE COURSE OF DOING YOUR BUSINESS?

There are obstacles in every kind of business. Even the local vulcanizer has obstacles. In the blogging business the first thing has to be the crappy internet service. Having access to the internet is one thing, having access to good internet is another thing entirely. The relationship between a blogger and good internet service is similar to that of a car to petrol. That’s the perfect illustration I can give.

The other obstacles are universal to any type of business- monetary obstacles and what not.

TAYO OBINAIKE; CONTRIBUTING BLOGGER ON POP OFF CENTRAL

FINER DETAILS

-DID U CONDUCT A FEASIBILITY STUDY?

No we didn’t. At the time we started the blogging field was so raw that collecting information and data would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. If we had started Pop Off Central last year, yeah for sure but back then it was so primordial.

-IS YOUR BUSINESS REGISTERED?

This is our next step. We are about to enter a phase that requires us to do so.

-SO HOW DID YOU RAISE SEED CAPITAL TO START

Truthfully back then it was from my salary. It was tough then, it’s still tough now but back then it was really crazy.

-WHAT ROLE WILL YOU SAY THE FINANCIAL SECTOR PLAYS IN THE LIFE OF SMALL BUSINESS IN NIGERIA?

A great lot. In more developed countries media conglomerates buy up blogs like ours. I don’t think AIT or STV are interested in buying blogs when they are still trying to keep up with operating a network. If AIT can make let’s say N1b in profit in a year then I see no reason why Dr. Raymond Dokpesi wouldn’t want to buy Linda Ikeji’s blog.

And it’s not like we can walk up to a bank and say “hello I am a blogger please can you loan me 20 million?” I think banks are interested in other things. We are at the bottom of the list and it’s going to take a long time before they get to the bottom.

-WHILE TRYING TO GET STARTED, WHERE THERE ANY MAJOR SET-BACKS AND HOW DID U SURMOUNT THEM?

The major set-back was monetary basically which affected us updating regularly.

-HOW DO YOU HANDLE LEGAL MATTERS?

Luckily we haven’t posted anything that would make us hire the services of a lawyer. We are careful in what we post. We are not really into sensationalism. We don’t post rumours or fabricate stories just for traffic. A blogger was arrested once. We however have a lawyer to call.

MARKETING STRATEGY

-WHAT’S YOUR OVERALL MARKETING STRATEGY, HOW DO YOU PLAN ON REACHING PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS?

We are not into blogging content for the whole of Nigeria. We are not a human interest blog. We are focused on the young Nigerian. We ask ourselves what will interest this set of people and deliver content that will interest them. Prophet Obadare recently passed away we didn’t blog that ‘cos we asked ourselves which young Nigerian knows him. If there is any news on Pastor Adeboye or Oyedepo we will definitely put it up because these are names popular within the circles of young Nigerians.

TOYIN OLAOYE; CONTRIBUTING BLOGGER FOR POP OFF CENTRAL

-WHAT DETERMINED YOUR BUSINESS LOCATION

Lagos is the entertainment capital of West Africa. If you want to know what’s popping Lagos is the place to be.

-IN THIS INTERNET SAVVY WORLD, HOW DO YOU USE SOCIAL MEDIA?

We use social media to deliver content to our readers. We are talking Twitter, Facebook and any new social app- Instagram and Keek. We also use it to interact with them too.

-MOST ENTREPRENEURS WANT TO KNOW; WHERE DO I GET MY BUSINESS IDEAS, HOW DO I FIND MY NICHE?

That’s simple. What do you like? This is the essence of it all. God has given us everything we need to make us succeed. We just have to find it. When you find it, game over.

FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING

-CAN YOU SHARE WITH US HOW YOU KEEP YOUR BUSINESS FUNDED?

I have two partners who have contributed financially. In addition to that, brands with interests in entertainment have approached us for adverts or special content creation like what we did for Nokia. These two sources of revenue keep us floating.

-WITH BUSINESS COMES ACCOUNTING, HOW DO YOU ADDRESS THIS AND TO WHAT EXTENT ARE YOU COMPUTER COMPLIANT IN YOUR BUSINESS?

Yuck! I really hate juggling of numbers. Lol. This aspect is handled by one of my partners. I just ask for money they deal with the balancing of books.

-THE FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS IN NIGERIA HAS GEARED UP THE DRIVE FOR TAXATION; WHAT’S YOUR TAKE ON THIS AND HOW DOES YOUR BUSINESS RESPOND?

Tax is not bad. In this part of the world we are kind of sceptical concerning taxation because as Nigerians we are still struggling with basic things such as healthcare, good roads and constant power supply. As a responsible citizen you should pay your tax. The UNO has recently made access to the internet a basic human right. If Nigerian government can guarantee us quality internet service they can double my taxes.

HUMAN RESOURCES

-DO YOU HAVE ANY PERSONNEL?

I am the blogger on Pop Off Central, we use mainly contributors for now. We haven’t started using personnel/staff bloggers yet.

A LITTLE PERSONAL

-HOW DO YOU BALANCE WORK AND PERSONAL LIFE?

Right now there is no balance. It’s all work. There is little time for having a personal life which is sadly the price for success.

-WHAT ARE WE MOST LIKELY GOING TO CATCH YOU DOING WHEN YOU ARE RELAXING?

Reading. I haven’t been doing much of that lately so I am back to that. I have just finished reading El-Rufai’s book The Accidental Public Servant.

-IN A NUTSHELL WHAT WOULD YOU DESCRIBE AS THE PURPOSE AND IMPACT OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP?

The purpose of entrepreneurship is basically to make humanity better and advance how we interact and see things. That’s my opinion of the purpose and impact of entrepreneurship from the Steve Jobs angle anyway. I feel every entrepreneur can tap into this and succeed.

-IN A FEW YEARS TIME, WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT FROM YOUR COMPANY?

Hopefully that this will be the MTV of blogs.

POP OFF CENTRAL FACEBOOK FAN PAGE

-WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL IN YOUR CHOSEN INDUSTRY

Most of my role models in this business are women funny enough. From Karen Civil (who created Lil Wayne’s website when he was in prison and now works for Dr. Dre’s Beats company) to Necole Bitchie (who was homeless at one point ‘cos her aunty kicked her out because she didn’t know why she was wasting all her time on the internet). Of course I can’t take Steve Jobs, Sean ‘Diddy Combs’ and Jay Z out of the picture.

-WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS?

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish- Steve Jobs.

De-ReVerie creations – PROFILE

THE PERSON, THE BUSINESS.

Q: CAN YOU PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?
A: My name is Yemisi Osifeso. Head, creation & logistics, De-ReVerie creations. A graduate of Economics from Babcock University, I am the second child and only daughter of my parents, I have three siblings and I am happily married to Mr. Bimbo Osifeso.

de reverie creations 1

founder: De ReVerie creations
Q: TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS
A: De-ReVerie creations is an event management outfit that specializes in indoor and outdoor catering, cakes for all occasions, assorted drinks, corporate gifts and souvenirs, event packaging. The company was established in January 2011, we are presently only located in Lagos-state but hope to have branches in Abuja and other states soon.

Q: HOW DID YOU SETTLE FOR THAT INDUSTRY, WHAT WAS THE MOTIVATION TO ENTER THAT MARKET?
A: Since my childhood, I had always been interested in organizing shows, parties, events generally and I particularly love cooking! Anyone who knows me would know that the kitchen is my best part of the house. I was strongly involved in putting together shows, carnivals and programmes in my secondary school and university days. After my NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) program in 2008, I got a job in a corporate organization but I was not satisfied as I had my mind on event creation. After about a year, I resigned and decided to go for my passion hence the birth of De-ReVerie creations.

Q: CAN YOU SHARE WITH US THE OBSTACLES YOU ENCOUNTER IN THE COURSE OF DOING YOUR BUSINESS?
A: I work for and relate with different people with different preferences and temperaments. Some people can be impossible, professionally convincing a client to change his/her already made up mind on an aspect of the event can be a huge task. This business has made me very patient and tactful.

Q: DID U CONDUCT A FEASIBILITY STUDY?
A: Not really, a little research here and there but nothing major. I have been learning on the job.

Q: IS YOUR BUSINESS REGISTERED?
A: Yes. De-ReVerie creations is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Abuja.

Q: SO HOW DID YOU RAISE SEED CAPITAL TO START?
A: Personal savings, my husband and my parents were of great assistance financially.

Q: WHAT ROLE WILL YOU SAY THE FINANCIAL SECTOR PLAYS IN THE LIFE OF SMALL BUSINESS IN NIGERIA?
A: I wouldn’t really know since I have not approached any financial institution for funds. I would say though that it is imperative for our government to provide financial assistance through the financial system and create an enabling environment for young talented individuals who are interested in starting up their own businesses, that way the number of unemployed youths roaming the streets will be greatly reduced.

Q: WHILE TRYING TO GET STARTED, WHERE THERE ANY MAJOR SET-BACKS AND HOW DID U SURMOUNT THEM?
A: Naturally every business has its challenges and the events industry is not left out. Breaking into the industry wasn’t easy mostly because people need to have a great level of confidence in you to trust you with catering for their event. They want to see pictures of your previous works, (which I didn’t have then because I was just starting out), they already have a relative somewhere who has told them to trust them with the catering and other aspects of the event (everybody is out to make money anyways) and besides that, it is a very capital intensive business where you have to keep acquiring new materials so as not to get obsolete and stay competitive. I started really small and had to rent materials to work with but today, we get so many jobs and even have to turn down some jobs because we are already booked. yayyy….

Q: HOW DO YOU HANDLE LEGAL MATTERS?
A: Legal matters ke…there’s no long story in my line of business o. You pay me, I deliver, end of story. (*laughs)

De reverie creations 2

how its done; De ReVerie creation doing their thing

MARKETING STRATEGY

Q: WHATS YOUR OVERALL MARKETING STRATEGY, HOW DO YOU PLAN ON REACHING PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS?
A: My marketing strategy is simple. We do each job as if it will be our last. We put in our best performance into every event and we take punctuality very seriously, it has worked like magic! I keep getting referrals and recommendations. Like they say, the best form of advertising is word of mouth and a good business sells itself. The social media has also been of invaluable help in reaching our prospective customers, we have a page on Facebook and we are currently building our website.

Q: WHAT DETERMINED YOUR BUSINESS LOCATION
A: I am based in Lagos so it’s only natural for my business to be located here. Our business is mobile so depending on the venue of the event, we get to go to different parts of Lagos and outside the state as well.

Q: IN THIS INTERNET SAVVY WORLD, HOW DO YOU USE SOCIAL MEDIA?
A: Social media has been of great help. Through our facebook page, blackberry, and twitter, we are able to reach countless number of people and keep them up to date about our services free of charge. I have done a few jobs without meeting the clients personally until the day of their event, we talked over the phone and communicated via e-mails and BBM (blackberry messenger) and the deals were sealed. It is amazing.

Q: MOST ENTREPRENEURS WANT TO KNOW; WHERE DO I GET MY BUSINESS IDEAS, HOW DO I FIND MY NICHE?
A: There are so many business ideas but if it is not backed up with talent and passion, such businesses will fold up in no time. It is a disaster to start up any kind of business simply because it’s in vogue or there’s money to be made in it. You’ll realize that the money doesn’t come immediately you start, it takes time for any business to break even. At that waiting period, it is your passion for what you do that keeps you going. Put in your best and put the Almighty first in your business, He will carve a niche for you.

FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING

Q: CAN YOU SHARE WITH US HOW YOU KEEP YOUR BUSINESS FUNDED?
A: My business runs itself financially. I don’t spend all my profit; I invest a portion back into the business to keep it growing. Also and very importantly, paying my tithe has been a great source of covering for my business.

Q: WITH BUSINESS COMES ACCOUNTING, HOW DO YOU ADDRESS THIS AND TO WHAT EXTENT ARE YOU COMPUTER COMPLIANT IN YOUR BUSINESS?
A: For now, I am the accountant and I ensure that I keep proper record of our incomes and expenditure. I balance the books periodically. Computers are more or less a part of our daily lives nowadays.

Q: THE FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS IN NIGERIA HAVE GEARED UP THE DRIVE FOR TAXATION; WHAT’S YOUR TAKE ON THIS AND HOW DOES YOUR BUSINESS RESPOND?
A: It is a very good move. Every income earning citizen and private business owners should contribute their quota to the development of their society. Social responsibility is our collective responsibility.

de reverie creations 3

it cant get any better than this…I am placing my order ASAP!
HUMAN RESOURCES

Q: DO YOU HAVE ANY PERSONNEL?
A: Yes I do. I have a manager and about eleven workers that come in when there is a job. For bigger jobs that require more hands, we source for contract workers.

dereverie creations 5

De-Reverie creations workforce

A LITTLE PERSONAL

Q: HOW DO YOU BALANCE WORK AND PERSONAL LIFE?
A: My kind of business is quite flexible, sometimes I work non-stop for days and other times I am free for days. I am blessed to be married to the most wonderful and supportive man who is every lady’s dream-man but happens to be my reality (wide grin). He understands that sometimes I can be away working but when am not working, I give my family undiluted attention.

Q: WHAT ARE WE MOST LIKELY TO CATCH YOU DOING WHEN YOU ARE RELAXING?)
A: I relax indoors, watching movies.

Q: IN A NUTSHELL WHAT WOULD YOU DESCRIBE AS THE PURPOSE AND IMPACT OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP?
A: Entrepreneurship simply put is “when innovation becomes commercially viable”, it is self empowerment. It takes a lot of hard-work and dedication to run a successful business and the impact of entrepreneurship can be seen in job creation.

Q: IN A FEW YEARS TIME, WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT FROM YOUR COMPANY?
A: By the grace of God, I want the De-ReVerie to be a household name. I want to have world class fast food eateries all over the country and provide jobs for so many people, to be a blessing to the society at large basically.

Q: WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL IN THE INDUSTRY YOU ARE IN?                                                                                  A: Audrey Abayomi of Audrey’s cakes n bakes and Funke Bucknor-Obruthe of Zapphire events. They are both renowned names in the Nigerian events industry.
Q: WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS?
A: Discover your God-given talents, nurture it and take the bold step of starting your own business. Dare to dream big and work to grow fast. Never stop learning and developing yourself. Most importantly, put God first in all you do and He will bless your effort.

We help bring out the best in our clients at the same time enhance the unique and undiscovered beauty which everyone possesses. So get that gorgeous and classy look whatever the occasion.

HOW DID YOU SETTLE FOR THAT INDUSTRY, WHAT WAS THE MOTIVATION TO ENTER THAT MARKET?

The Almighty is my major motivating force. Besides that, there’s nothing more fun for me than loving what I do and doing what I love. Make-up has always been ‘me’. So my decision to enter the market was based on sheer passion for what I derive pleasure in doing. Just a major flare and passion for making people look the best they can ever imagine. No one’s ugly, there’s beauty inside of you.

FINER DETAILS

DID U CONDUCT A FEASIBILITY STUDY?

Feasibility studies! No, I didn’t. But I did learn a lot from the House of Tara®, and quite some experience with Black-Up®.

IS YOUR BUSINESS REGISTERED?

CaraBonita® is registered with C.A.C (corporate affairs commission) Abuja, Nigeria.
SO HOW DID YOU RAISE SEED CAPITAL TO START

I started with a little capital injection from parents and a few friends.

WHAT ROLE WILL YOU SAY THE FINANCIAL SECTOR PLAYS IN THE LIFE OF SMALL BUSINESSES IN NIGERIA?

Well the financial sector is playing a role. But I’ll suggest they put out more funds to encourage people to empower themselves, not everyone has the capital to start-up a business. People should begin to understand they can be young entrepreneurs, that they can be their own bosses! Do their thing! Call the shots!

carabonita3

CARABONITA AT WORK

WHILE TRYING TO GET STARTED, WHERE THERE ANY MAJOR SET-BACKS AND HOW DID U SURMOUNT THEM?

-Wow! Obstacles? A lot actually. A major one is; having to work in the same industry with “well known” household names. It takes a lot to convince a client to let you do the job; a couple of people fail to realize one can even do the job better. A perfect way around this for me was doing a couple of free jobs at the initial stage just so people can see our works and get to know us. But we thank the Almighty, CaraBonita® is growing as the years go by.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE LEGAL MATTERS?

Laughs…I have many lawyer friends. So I am covered, besides I don’t plan on getting into any legal squabbles.

MARKETING STRATEGY

WHAT’S YOUR OVERALL MARKETING STRATEGY, HOW DO YOU PLAN ON REACHING PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS?

Overall marketing strategy is creating attractive packages that would lure prospective clients like the ‘recommend a friend for bridal make over and get yours done for free’, ‘1/2 price promo during festive seasons’, ‘full bridal make-over and get your mum and bridal train to make up for free’. Though these are dependent on a number of other factors I won’t mention here.

carabonita4

CARABONITA MAKES HER CUSTOMERS DELIGHTED

WHAT DETERMINED YOUR BUSINESS LOCATION

Lasgidi is always d ‘ish’. I grew up here in Lasgidi (Lagos, Nigeria) loving the bubbling and fashion conscious nature of the people. However, my job takes me around Nigeria… Wherever. So long as you want our services… We are ready to deliver!

IN THIS INTERNET SAVVY WORLD, HOW DO YOU USE SOCIAL MEDIA?

I must confess social media plays an important role in managing my brand. It provides an opportunity to showcase my works. With Facebook®, Twitter® and of cause BB (black-berry®) I reach a wider range of people than I would have normally.

MOST ENTREPRENEURS WANT TO KNOW; WHERE DO I GET MY BUSINESS IDEAS, HOW DO I FIND MY NICHE?

I would always say, the best business idea is in you. Just look within. There’s always something, a passion, a dream…you name it. Make the decision, take the step and start up. Never join a market because of its monetary gains or because it seems to be d norm. Do something you love, something you have a passion for.

You’ll most likely catch me watching a movie either at home or at the cinemas.

I would say the purpose of entrepreneurship is to empower yourself. Be your own boss. But it takes a whole lot of sacrifice, hard work and professionalism.

TOSKyme™ CASUAL House of fashion PROFILE

This week I am in Aba, Abia state, Nigeria. The commercial nerve center of Eastern Nigeria. The home of Ariaria market. The home of ‘home made’ shoes, bags and other household items. The city that has one of the best football clubs in Nigeria, Enyimba Football Club of Aba. Its a great town with great people and a rich history as well. Amid the hustle and bustle of the city I track down an old school mate of mine. He ventured into the world of enterprise and he has been doing so well ever since. Below is the interview I had with him.

I have the honour to Introduce to you;

Ogbonna Ugomdi, a BSc, MSc holder, Creator and CEO of TOSKyme House of fashion.

CEO TOSKyme House of fashion at work

CEO TOSKyme™ House of fashion at work

Q. Tell us about your company

A. TOSKyme™ Fashion House came into existence in January 2009,though I started with selling clothes designed by Apparel Designs during my NYSC days. I gathered a lot of experiences from my partnership with apparel designs. In January 2009 I decided to float my own clothing line. Today we are so grateful, TOSKyme is becoming a Household name in the fashion industry, a place where we tap into trends, focusing more on ‘afrocentric’ attires alluring to the eyes for both men and women.
Q. How did you settle for that industry, what’s the motivation to enter the market?

Wow! I grew up in a family where everyone is a fashion freak. I watched my elder bro and sisters do their thing. Dad pulled me severally by my ears for putting on black shoe and brown belt. All these actions made me focus on fashion which later turned to a dream. However, I waited for d right time to pursue my career.
Q. So tell us the obstacles you encounter in the course of doing your business?

A. I started my fashion house exactly the same period I applied for my Msc. program. Managing both was a big challenge at the initial stage. Also, meeting the need of getting new workers and training them posed as a bigger challenge to me. The epileptic power supply situation of this country also cannot be over emphasized here.

Not really. Apparel designs was just there for me at the initial stage. Big thanks to Stanley(CEO Apparel designs)
Q. How did you raise seed capital?

A. From Family and friends basically. I started the outfit on a low key.

Q. So what role will you say the financial sector in Nigeria plays in the “life” of small business?

A. Financial institutions help to enhance organized, systematic and focused participation of d small and medium scale enterprises in d socio-economic development of the country by providing diversified, affordable and dependable financial services that will enable them to undertake and develop long-term, sustainable entrepreneurial endeavours, there however is still some level of disconnect between those small businesses that need financial service and the financial service providers.

Q. That’s the ‘economist’ in you talking.

A. Yes you are correct.
Q. How do you handle legal matters?

We have a very strong legal frame-work.
Q. So is TOSKyme™ registered?

A. Yes, with the Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.C) Umuahia, Abia state

It wasn’t accidental, although I never thought I was going to end up as a photographer,  I have always loved pictures so I grew in love with the art of photography. I once lived adjacent a photography studio, I would visit there just to see how its done and so I developed interest, all the while I was working in the admin department of an engineering firm. August 2009 I opted to pursue a career in what I love rather than keep trying to love what I was doing at the time and so I started Daisy Mo’ fotography.
4) So tell us the obstacles you encounter in the course of you business.

I grew up outside Lagos, and my business is based in Lagos so I had to start from the scratch. Building clientèle was my biggest challenge however I also had the challenge of acquiring equipment. I had to rent equipment for the First two years of operation after awhile I got my first state of the art camera. Those were my major challenges amongst others.

9) If asked; can you put a price-tag to how much would be needed to get a photography outfit started?

That’s a tough question; it depends on how big or small you want to start. All that’s needed are a full professional camera kit, a laptop, software and of course your knowledge (training required here). Like I said, it depends on how big or small you want to start.
